coach payton breaks leg
AMERICAN FOOTBALL: The New Orleans Saints lost to Tampa Bay -- and saw their head coach badly injured -- on Sunday night.
The Bucs won 26-20 but much of the post-match talk was about the broken leg and torn knee ligament suffered by Saints boss Sean Payton.
The injuries were sustained during the game's first drive. Payton fell during a collision with New Orleans tight-end Jimmy Graham. His left leg was caught under Graham as the player was tackled on the sideline.
Payton stayed on the ground for several minutes but coached from the bench until late in the first half when he was carted to the locker room. It was later announced that he had torn his medial cruciate ligament in the leg and suffered a broken tibia.
