British raiders add spice to Night of Stars
Competition for places in the eight Night of Stars races on Saturday will be very intense as entries continued to pour in yesterday and the draw will be made at lunchtime today.
There are no fewer than four British entries for the Track Bookmakers 850, with Magical Gaga backed up by Castlehill Aris, Aayamzabella and Afewdollarsmore.
The home side includes Handonthefan, Razldazl Marilyn, Plutos Rena and Gallarus Rumble.
Droopys Ed Moses is a UK entry for the Shaneboy Spencer 750 and this is shaping up into quite a contest with the likes of Shanless Becky, Groupie Doll, Airforce Duke, Airlie Dazzler, Oneco Cool, Stainless Steel and Kathleens Holly also entered.
Oaks and St Leger winner Locnamon Bridie was found to have a tendon problem yesterday and she misses the Stars of the Night Bitch 525 where the entries include Carrowgarriff, Melodys Diamond, Rockburst Pearl, Killinan Baby, Tasmanic Jaxx, Maddies Dream, Fridays Twirl and Champagne Jackie.
Gizmo Classic and Ringtown Snowy, which dead-heated in the Cesarewitch, are in the line-up for the Larry Dunne 600 where Gavins Legacy, Royal Diva and Skywalker Legend are other entries, while Tyrur Sugar Ray could go for either this race or the 550 or 575 contests.
Other entries for the Dandelion 575 are Jaytee Hellcat, Ballyana Foxtrot, Exocet, Hawaii Kinsale, Sidaz Eagle, Glenanore Dancer (or 550), North Bound, Rockview Turbo, Skywalker Mandy, Farloe Trent and Abbeyville Tipp.
Droopys Jet, winner of the re-run 525 last year, is entered for the Boylesports 550 which has attracted Vanrooney, Sawpit Sensation, Skywalker Farloe, Captain Scolari and perhaps Tyrur Sugar Ray and Ballymac Vic.
The latter could also be a runner in the Red Mills 525 where Fiery Splendour, Homeless Boy, Cathys Clown, Ardfert Thunder, Holborn Junior, Ballymac Niall and Daddyknowsbest figure.
There is a big entry for the Head Bound 350 with Knockglass Billy, Ballymac Matthew, All About Ya, Cloughtaney Gift, Cyclone Sandy, Savana Rumble, Mistaken, Satin Jessie and English challenger Cluxtons Free are other entries.
There's a good programme at Harold's Cross tonight, with the meeting a fundraiser for motor neurone sufferer Paul Reid. With the extra Saturday night kicking in this weekend for the Christmas period, there will be just 11 races and the feature is the €1,000 Hello Sir Open 550.
This is a top-class race but the three against the field are track specialist Pay The Lolly (9.04), Mays King and Atitboy. Pay The Lolly's record is outstanding. He is unbeaten in his last eight starts over four bends here.
On the supporting card the heats of the DGOBA A3 present likely winners in Martin Nea's Ringtown Ned (9.18) and Liam O'Rourke's Cheese Please (10.0).
