Breen and Bourns to fore in Calgary

The Irish ratcheted it up a notch when Shane Breen finished fourth and Andrew Bourns slotted into sixth place in the Cana Cup at the Five-Star Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary, Canada.

It was a rough afternoon for Jennifer Crooks, however, as she retired in the first round with Uryadi after collecting 20 faults.

Bourns and Roundthorn Madios were joined in the nine-horse jump-off by Breen and Balloon.

Bourns was fault-free in 39.89 and Breen bettered that when almost a second faster. But that was only good enough for fourth when, with German Christian Ahlmann and France's Jerome Hurel already out in front, Britain's Michael Whitaker went round in 37.27.
