Watch: American fighter who wore shorts with a wall pattern and the message 'America 1st' gets KO-ed by Mexican opponent
American boxer Rod Salka made a political statement but it backfired badly at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California last night.
Salka, nicknamed 'Lightning', wore shorts clearly depicting a brick wall with the message 'America 1st' for his bout with Mexican former junior lightweight titleholder Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas.
The 35-year-old American was floored by an uppercut in the fifth round but beat the count.
Vargas piled on more punishment in the sixth and the fight was brought to a halt when Salka's corner stopped the fight.
The Pennsylvania native may want to rethink his attire in the future.
