Joe Ward is being lined up to fight in Belgium just two weeks after making his pro debut at New York's Madison Square Garden (MSG) next month.

The Westmeath light-heavy is confirmed for his first paid outing on the Gennady Golovkin versus Sergiy Derevyanchenko undercard at the MSG on October 5 and could fight in Belgium on October 19.

The two-time World Elite finalist leaves for the USA with his Irish coach Jimmy Payne today to go into training camp.

Ward wants to have three fights - and three wins - under his belt before Christmas.

"I have to say I'm probably in the best shape I've ever been in going into a training camp," said Ward, who has been training under Payne in Waterford.

"I'm doing everything right and I'm looking forward to the next stage, it's going to bring the best out of me.

"You're going to see a very dominant and hungry Joe Ward come October 5. I want to have three wins by Christmas."
