Kieran Molloy and Michael Nevin continued their impressive starts to their Elite careers by winning their respective bouts in the first of Ireland's three internationals against the USA in Boston.

World silver medallist Kellie Harrington and Kiril Afanasev also had their hands raised in victory, but the Americans, with former Irish head coach Billy Walsh working their corner, posted an 8-4 victory.

It's been an incredible few weeks for Molloy, who won his first Irish Elite title last month when he also took the 'Best Male Boxer' award at the flagship tournament of Irish boxing.

"I'm delighted," said Galway welter Molloy after his victory over US captain Quinton Randall.

Laois middleweight Nevin was equally pleased after out-pointing Nikita Ababi.

"That's my 10th international now and I've won 10. It's all experience and development to get me to the best I can be," said the three-time European underage champion.
