Manny Pacquiao has emerged as a possible opponent for Conor McGregor's next fight after the legendary boxer claimed that initial talks have taken place over a 2018 bout.

McGregor hasn't fought since losing his professional boxing debut to Floyd Mayweather in August, and hasn't fought in the UFC since winning the lightweight title at Madison Square Garden in November 2016.

The Dubliner has hinted at a return in the first quarter of 2018, and speaking to AFP today, Pacquiao floated himself as a possible opponent.

"If we can negotiate it, I have no problem. It is OK with both of us," Pacquiao said.

The Filipino was then asked whether any discussions had taken place with McGregor's representatives.

"Initially, but we have not yet had any follow-up conversations," he added.
