Katie Taylor's next opponent Rose Volante chose not to travel from her native Brazil for the official press conference to announce her showdown against the Bray fighter in Philadelphia on March 15.

Volante puts her WBO World lightweight belt on the line against Taylor, who holds the WBA and IBF versions of the title.

Taylor believes the fight gives her an ideal opportunity to go one step closer to becoming the undisputed lightweight champion of the world.

“I can't wait until March 15 when I will have a chance to unify the division again and be one step closer to being the unified champion which has always been my ultimate goal. This is exactly what boxing needs; the best fighting the best.

“It is great to be here in Philadelphia. It is such a great fight city. I can't wait until March 15 to showcase my skills again.”

Dubliner Jono Carroll tops bill challenging local hero Tevin Farmer for the IBF world super featherweight title while London Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin is also due to box on the show in the Liacouras Center.
