Katie Taylor is in discussions to end her amateur career and turn professional, according to reports.

Matchroom Sports promoter Eddie Hearn has today told RTÉ that the Olympic gold medalist is in discussions to sign a pro deal, which would bring her era of amateur dominance to an end.

Speculation has been rife since Taylor's shock Olympic exit that the Bray boxer could be tempted by the professional ranks, and it is looking increasingly likely that she won't be a part of the Irish team for next month's European women's championships in Bulgaria.

Since making her major championship debut in 2005, Taylor has won an Olympic gold, five world titles and six European crowns.

However, since her father Pete left her corner, Taylor's form has slumped, losing three times in 2016 having previously remained undefeated since 2005.
