Gallery: Nobody looked more stunned that Katie Taylor lost than Katie Taylor herself Newsdesk Newsdesk

When you haven't lost in five years, it probably takes a minute for it to register that your long undefeated streak is over.

A champion's confidence is often bulletproof, so it is no surprise that even though it looked obvious that she had been defeated by Yana Alexseevna, Taylor still seemed really positive after the final bell rang in their Olympic qualifier bout.

But as the judges scores were read out, it slowly dawned on Taylor that for the first time since 2011, her hand wasn't going to be raised.

It was a bitter blow for Taylor - although she can still qualify for the Rio Olympics - but it still provided some dramatic sporting imagery, with the haunted look on her face encapsulating the agony of a proud champion who has been defeated.
