TJ ‘The Power’ Doheny pledged to come back stronger after suffering the first defeat of his career in a bruising IBF/WBA super-bantamweight unifier against Danny Roman in Los Angeles on Friday night.

“I put it all on the line. We came up short, but I’m learning all the time and I still think the best is yet to come,” added Doheny, who lost his IBF belt on a points decision, taking two counts.

“If there’s a rematch on the cards, whatever, I want to come straight back in at the top. I don’t want to be rebuilt.”

Roman is now expected to target Mexico’s WBC champion Rey Vargas.
