Katie Taylor gave her exuberant promoter Eddie Hearn a polite verbal jab in the final pre-fight press conference before her second professional fight against Switzerland's Viviane Obenauf in Manchester on Saturday.

Hearn was talking up the importance of Taylor’s presence on the same card as the showdown between world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Eric Molina when she was forced to calm down her promoters hype.

When Hearn asked Taylor how she felt to be performing in front of a massive crowd in only her second fight, she offered up this response.

“Are you trying to make me nervous,” she said with a nervous giggle. “This is the kind of platform I wanted to showcase my talents in front of 21,000 people live on Sky.

“This is what I’ve trained all my life and it is a privilege for me to share this platform with these boxers. It’s great to be a part of it.

“The debut was fantastic, but this is a big step up for me and I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully I can put on a good show again.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn was oozing with praise for Taylor as he talked up her hopes of conquering the professional ranks, with his fulsome praise for the Irish sporting icon confirming he has big plans for her career.

“I am proud to be putting Katie on a bill in front of 21,000 fans and she has all the attributes to become a global superstar,” stated Hearn.

This is a reminder of Taylor’s professional debut against Karina Kopinska last month, with huge coverage on American TV this weekend set to provide the 2012 Olympic gold medallist with a platform to display her talents ahead of a fight in New York early in 2017.
