Basketball: Stanley magic secures title for Joseph's

Kevin Stanley was the hero as St Joseph's, Derry, claimed the All-Ireland U-19 'B' Boys' league title with an impressive 41-30 victory over Ennistymon CBS at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght yesterday.

Stanley's ability to alter the pace of the game was a constant scourge for Ennistymon, who struggled to get to grips with his relentless probing.

Coolmine took the U-19 'C' title with a hard-fought 59-31 victory over Thurles CBS, with Daryl Guaio earning the MVP award.

Our Lady of Mercy, Drimnagh, were crowned U-16 'B' Girls champions after a nip-and-tuck encounter against Presentation of Listowel -- the Dubliners eventually prevailing 28-17.

Ursuline of Cork secured the U-19 'C' girls title with a dramatic 36-30 win over Colaiste Ide from Dingle thanks to a spirited second-half fightback.

MVP Catherine O'Sullivan hit a huge three-pointer for Ursuline's to re-establish a three-point cushion at a key moment late on.
