THERE might be another Leeside derby this weekend, but whatever happens in Cork will be rendered irrelevant if UL Eagles overcome Dublin Inter at the National Basketball Arena tonight.

The champions can secure top spot in the Men's SuperLeague with victory as they lead Neptune by six and UCC Demons by seven points.

"We are fired up and ready to go," Eagles coach Mark Keenan said. "This is a huge game for us as we need two more wins from our next four games to win the league title and we want those wins as soon as possible. This battle will be a real dogfight."

Having lost to UL last weekend, Neptune coach Mark Scannell knows that the league and cup double now looks beyond his side. But he wants his charges to win their derby and finish the league well.

"This is a big game for us," he said. "We have an advantage coming into the game as cup champions but we need to remember the cup is over."

Meanwhile, it could be a big weekend for Limerick if UL Huskies can overcome Glanmire. The Cork side put an end to Huskies' 44-game winning streak before Christmas, but UL won the cup final clash between the sides and will be favourites here.
