Ballymac Vic in flying form

Liam Dowling's Ballymac Vic was most impressive once again as he produced the fastest time in the quarter-finals of the Connolly's Red Mills Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park.

There was no repeat of his record-breaking antics of the previous week but a 28.19 run was still a terrific effort. He broke well from the inside and had forged ahead of fast-starting Tafari by the bend and went on to win by three-and-a-half lengths from Knockglass Billy, with Allen Master a head third.

The first heat saw the Vinnie Morris-trained Ashfield Impact push his way past Confident Rankin on the opening bend and hold off the latter's renewed effort by half a length in 28.37, with Tinas Nova also qualifying.

Golden-based trainer Rachel Wheeler won the last two heats. Boherna House took over from defending champion Razldazl Rioga on the first bend and ran on strongly to win by three lengths from Ballybough Hawke in 28.4, with Razldazl Rioga also qualifying.

Wheeler's Camas Crash took the final heat, where he tracked Cambushmore down the far side before assuming control around the final bend. He went on to win by three lengths from Cashen Mafuma in 28.33, with Liveanddangerous in third.

The final of the Droopys Stud Munster Oaks at Waterford was won by Katies Quadrigo, which hit the front on the third bend and won by three lengths from Tyrur Wozniacki in 28.51.

The final of the Kasko Unraced at Tralee saw Michael Wren's Steeple Rd Andy hit the front on the run-in for a half-length win over Leamaneigh Turbo in 29.26.
