Irish boxer Michael Conlan would take on any challenge in the ring and is looking forward to a major challenge outside it after becoming a father for the first time.
Conlan, a bronze medallist at the 2012 London Olympics, and his partner Shauna Olali are the proud parent of a baby girl after the arrival this afternoon.
He tweeted: "I'm daddy from 15:23 today to a gorgeous wee girl who weighed 7.11lbs! Over the moon mummy and baby all well and good ☺️ #daddymick."
Michael Conlan took a significant step towards qualifying for the 2016 Olympics with victories for Italia Thunder over the USA Knockouts in the World Series of Boxing at the weekend before last.
Conlan produced a classy five rounds to take a 50-45 verdict across the board against USA bantam Francisco Martinez. Conlan boxed southpaw for the entire contest against the American, who was ranked No. 1 in the WSB bantamweight rankings going into the contest.
