Michael McKillop progressed to tomorrow's T38 800m final at the ParaAthletics World Championships after storming to victory in last night's heat.

The Antrim man, who is defending his world title in this classification, recorded a time of 2:07.61 to win the middle-distance event.

However, the race wasn't without incident Dixon Velasquez of Colombia led from the gun and on world record pace at 400m dramatically dropped out, running off the track to leave McKillop with a clear run to the line.

Meanwhile, Rio Paralympian Greta Streimikyte put in a season's best performance on the opening night of action in London's Olympic stadium to place fourth in the final of the women's T13 1500m. The Clonliffe Harriers athlete ran a tremendous race keeping pace with the leading trio before crossing the line in 4:47.54.
