Aodh O'Neill deprived his Iveragh team-mate Cian Murphy of his fifth win in six years when taking the Charles O'Shea Memorial Cup 10km road race at Beaufort near Killarney on New Year's Day.
O'Neill -- home from London where he runs with Serpentine RC -- broke away approaching half-way and held on for victory in 32:53.
Murphy had beaten O'Neill over four miles the week before but had to settle for second in 33:16, with Arthur Fitzgerald of Farranfore-Maine Valley third in 33:49.
There was a clean sweep by St Finbarr's in the women's race, with Geraldine O'Shea maintaining her fine form to win in 39:22. Karina Teahan, a native of Sneem, was second in 39:55, with the evergreen Mary Sweeney taking third in 40:20.
The Business Houses Athletic Association racing season gets under way on Saturday when the annual Dublin County Council cross-country races take place at Tymon Park starting at noon.
Changing facilities and registration is at St Jude's GAA Centre.

The Dublin Masters Cross Country Championships is scheduled for St Anne's Park in Raheny on Sunday, with the women's 3,000m event taking place at 1.0, followed by the men's 8,000m race at 1.30.
