In a Toure-style strop after birthday 'scandal'
Happy birthday Yaya Toure.
Our first GAA roadshow of the season took place on a sun-drenched Inch Beach in Kerry last Friday night.
We were revelling in the surrounds made famous by 'Ryan's Daughter', a 206-minute sprawl across the Kerry landscape, as the Sam to The Summit event raised funds for the Alan Kerins Projects.
There was a real sense of excitement among the football people in the room about the imminent championship. There were All-Ireland winners in every nook and cranny.
Then, just as the show finished, my "friends" and colleagues produced a birthday cake and sang happy birthday as Colm Parkinson slandered me by proclaiming it was my 40th.
For the sake of putting the record straight, Parkinson is the oldest member of the OTB team.
I was reminded of all this when we woke up to the news that Yaya Toure is using a snub from Manchester City to get more money.
Oh he'll claim it's for a transfer, but really it's about a new contract. If I can get a cup of tea out of my birthday scandal, I'd be delighted.
