'You're going to quit as a loser?' - Piers Morgan hits out at Conor McGregor over 'retirement'
British broadcaster Piers Morgan has asked Conor McGregor if he is really going to end his UFC career on the back of his shock defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
The UFC featherweight champion suggested that he was retiring with a cryptic tweet last night from his training camp in Iceland and has since been pulled from his rematch with Diaz at UFC 200.
McGregor caused confusion on Tuesday evening when he sent a tweet saying he was quitting.
"I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya's later" he wrote.
The UFC released a statement to say that McGregor has been taken off the card at UFC 200 for failing to complete his media duties.
A story on UFC's official website said: "McGregor informed UFC officials that he would not participate in any promotional activities, including a commercial shoot and press conferences."
“Is Conor McGregor retiring? Only he can answer that question. I don’t know,” UFC president Dana White said. “But Conor McGregor is not fighting at UFC 200."
UFC fans are anxiously awaiting word from the McGregor camp to confirm or deny that he plans to retire and Piers Morgan has asked The Notorious if he will really pull the curtain down on the back of a loss.
