Video: We ask fans at the 3Arena if they'd like to see Conor McGregor join the WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) rolled into town today for a show at the 3Arena and we decided to ask attending fans if they thought Conor McGregor should swap MMA for pro wrestling.

Unless you’ve been stationed underneath a very large rock over the last 48 hours, it’ll be all too apparent that Conor McGregor has been at odds with his employers, the UFC.

Although very different endeavours, there tends to be a significant overlapping of fans when it comes to MMA and professional wrestling.

So, with the WWE set to stage a huge event in the 3Arena tonight, Independent.ie jumped on the Luas with our camera in tow to find out what the masses thought about the fiasco which saw McGregor tweet his intention to retire on Tuesday night.

There had been rumours that McGregor was bound for professional wrestling, but they now appear unfounded.

It has since emerged that his unwillingness to fly to Las Vegas this weekend for a press event to promote his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9, compelled the UFC to pull him from the card altogether.

McGregor issued a statement on Facebook today clarifying his position; he wishes to scale back on his promotional duties so as to concentrate more on his training.

As is always the case with the Dubliner, opinions were divided. But most people thought he should stick to the sport where he currently enjoys world champion status.
