Ready to stick it to Aldo: Watch as McGregor and movement guru go through their workout
Instead of hitting pads like everyone else, Conor McGregror used the UFC 194 open workouts to showcase the new repertoire of fluent movement he has learned from guru Ido Portal.
The Dubliner, who meets Jose Aldo in a featherweight title unification bout at UFC 194 in Las Vegas on Saturday night, was put through his paces by Portal in front of considerable crowd .
McGregor sought Portal's help in preparation for the showdown with Aldo in a bid to further his ability to befuddle opponents with unorthodox methods of evasion and attack.
The 27-year old interim champion has always sought the most innovative forms of combat training, particularly those which limit the prospect of injury. Last summer in the Las Vegas heat, it was yoga that kept him supple for what turned out be a brief but taxing battle with Chad Mendes.
We've already seen the SBG man extinguish candles with the flick of an ankle under Portal's gaze and, below, thanks to video from our man in Vegas Joe Callaghan, the latter lightly swings a rather large stick in McGregor's direction, so hopefully he knows what's he's doing.
