McGregor set to avoid prison term for NY bus rampage
Conor McGregor is likely to escape any jail time for his New York bus rampage.
His lawyers were last night set to secure a last-minute plea deal that will see the charges he faces reduced to a misdemeanour.
The deal will cost the UFC fighter hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to US legal sources.
The 30-year-old faced up to seven years behind bars over the attack that left three rivals nursing injuries and a trail of damage.
However, the deal will allow him to serve only a long period of probation and some community service.
It is also almost certain to save McGregor from being banned for life from his sport by UFC president Dana White.
McGregor's lawyers are finalising details of the agreement with the District Attorney's Office in Manhattan, where the fighter is due to appear in court on Thursday, according to US news website TMZ.
