Conor McGregor's pal leaves opponent in 'critical' condition after brutal MMA knock out

A Portuguese MMA fighter was rushed to hospital on Saturday night after he was knocked out by an SBG stable-mate of Conor McGregor at an event in Dublin.

Charlie 'The Hospital' Ward scored a third round TKO victory over Joao Carvalho at the National Stadium as McGregor cheered on from the crowd.

However, after being initially checked out by medical personnel in the ring, Carvalho then became 'very ill' 20 minutes after the fight after being checked out by doctors a second time, according to the Facebook page for the fighter's trainer.

It also says that Carvalho was 'rushed to hospital' after the bout, and they are awaiting further details on his condition.

The Star is reporting this morning that Carvalho is in 'critical condition' in hospital.

Ward is also trained by McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, and turned professional last November. He currently holds a 2-1 record.
