Conor McGregor has landed a coaching role and will face off against a fierce rival
Conor McGregor squared up against Chad Mendes' team-mate Urijah Faber last week and the pair will get the chance to lock horns again after they were picked as coaches for the Ultimate Fighter.
New interim featherweight champion of the world McGregor will lead Europe in the ninth season of the reality TV programme against Faber's Team USA.
Faber is an Alpha Male team-mate of Mendes and McGregor clashed with the former featherweight back stage in the lead up to Saturday's fight. In the latest UFC Embedded video, McGregor confronted Faber and their playful taunts nearly sparked a row with McGregor threatening to break his nose.
"I could have dumped him on his head," McGregor said. "I let him off with it... little twerp."
Faber stoked the flames afterwards, describing McGregor as a "crackhead".
“What happened was, I was in the bathroom," said Faber.
“Somebody was trying to get in, so I opened the bathroom up. It was a single stall, and McGregor was standing there. We were face to face. Then you saw the video. It was super random. We were in a back hallway, and there just happened to be a camera crew there.
“I’m not trying to pick on a guy when he’s cutting weight, but the guy looked like a crackhead, man. Nuts.”
The next season of The Ultimate Fighter premieres in the USA on September 9.
