When the UFC signed WWE crossover hopeful CM Punk aka Phil Brooks, a slew of fighters offered their 'services' to introduce the pro wrestler to the finer points of MMA.
Cathal Pendred was in that number and relations between the two have remained tense ever since.
Things got a little heated between the two in August when it appeared The Punisher was poking fun at a video posted of Brooks' striking workout.
When we spoke to Cathal he explained the whole saga erupted over a misunderstanding. It appeared like he was picking a fight, when in reality the likelihood of the two meeting in the Octagon is slim.
The Drumcondra native is a former Cage Warriors world champion and has 17 professional wins. It would be criminal for an athletic commission to sanction a debut fight for Brooks against a seasoned pro like Pendred.
You'll see in the video things got heated between the pair, but Pendred explains he never called Punk out and doesn't think the former WWE champ is in it for the long haul.
