Australian Michael Morgan has been called into Ireland's World Cup squad as a late replacement for Warrington centre Toby King.

The 25-year-old Morgan, who is with Canterbury Bulldogs, will link up with Mark Aston's squad when they arrive in Queensland this weekend for the start of their World Cup campaign.

He is a straight replacement for King, the younger brother of Warrington forward George King who has failed to recover from a hamstring injury that cut short his Super League campaign.

"He's a centre who is big and strong who runs good lines," Aston said.

"He's in the Bulldogs system and plays in the New South Wales Cup competition but he's been asked to report for pre-season training with the NRL squad."
