Man City one goal away from 100 this season. Here are the top five
Manchester City could score their 100th goal of the season as they host Cardiff this weekend. Here, we pick out five of the best of the previous 99.
SERGIO AGUERO v NEWCASTLE (August 19, Premier League)
City started the season with a bang as they thrashed Newcastle 4-0 at Etihad Stadium. Aguero netted their second as he finished off a quick counter-attack. Vincent Kompany brought the ball out of defence and fed it forward for Edin Dzeko, who helped it on with a backheel. Aguero raced onto it and fired a low shot across the area and into the bottom corner.
YAYA TOURE v VIKTORIA PLZEN (September 17, Champions League)
City started their European campaign in style with a 3-0 victory away at Czech minnows Plzen. Toure hit their second with a 25-yard effort which curled and dipped its way into the top corner.
SERGIO AGUERO v MANCHESTER UNITED (September 22, Premier League)
As a statement, City's 4-1 home win over the defending champions and their arch-rivals United was an emphatic one. They were on their way after 16 minutes as Samir Nasri wrong-footed Chris Smalling to release Aleksandar Kolarov, and his cross was adeptly hooked in on the volley by the prolific Aguero.
JESUS NAVAS v TOTTENHAM (November 24, Premier League)
Navas set the tone for a 6-0 rout of Tottenham with a goal after just 15 seconds. It came after a poor clearance by Hugo Lloris was seized upon by Aguero. Lloris appeared to have atoned for his error by saving Aguero's powerful shot but the ball rolled to Navas on the right and the Spaniard clipped a shot back over the goalkeeper from a tight angle.
ALVARO NEGREDO v TOTTENHAM (November 24, Premier League)
Negredo bagged City's fifth that afternoon after a neat turn and shot. The Spaniard received a pass from Fernandinho and beat his marker by flicking the ball behind him. He turned sharply and unleashed a ferocious left-foot drive past Lloris.
