Luis Suarez involved in another handshake debacle as Spurs mascot trolls Liverpool striker
In the end Luis Suarez had the last laugh at White Hart Lane, but the Liverpool striker was the victim of a handshake prank by a young Tottenham mascot prior to yesterday’s kick-off.
While contropversy surrounding the pre-match handshakes is an ongoing debate, the quick-thinking Spurs mascot was keen to prank the stand-in captain, though did belatedly make an attempt to make amends before walking along the line.
The striker went on to score twice in the five-goal demolition of the North London side to take his tally to 17 for the season and counting.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s five star show at White Hart Lane yesterday not only put a smile on Reds supporters everywhere, it left one punter in the UK £30,000 better off.
Not many would have predicted that Brendan Roger’s men would put 10 man Spurs to the sword ina 5-0 victory, but one Paddy Power customer in the UK certainly did. Not only did he predict the scoreline, he also backed the Uruguayan striker to bag the first goal at odds of 1000/1.
Raheem Sterling’s goal saw the punter land the £30,000 windfall and in total the company said that seven people correctly predicted the 5-0 scoreline, including one Dublin customer who placed €5 on the outcome.
