Niall Horan confused some One Direction fans with a number of tweets about the Rugby World Cup.

Niall Horan took to Twitter to support his national rugby team in the Rugby World Cup, tweeting "want to say a huuuge good luck to all the @IrishRugby lads and everyone involved, gona (sic) be a great tournament".

He tweeted that today was a "day of sport" and went on to tweet a number of times about Ireland's match against Canada and Chelsea's match against Arsenal.

A number of fans were confused by the tweets with one tweeting that they were "only reading" the #RWC2015 stream to "figure out what Niall is talking about".

A Canadian fan tweeted "I'm Canadian, but with Ireland winning Niall must be super happy, so it's a win win".

One fan suggested that Niall should go for a pint with Irish Rugby flyhalf Ian Madigan, while another responded "Ian Madigan, best arse in Ireland!"
