Watch: The beautiful moment Steven Gerrard pays surprise visit to 11-year-old girl suffering with cancer

Former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard made a young 11-year-old's dreams come true when he paid a surprise visit to her house.

Charlie, who suffers with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer - got a pleasant surprise when Liverpool icon Gerrard showed up at her home and the beautiful moment was captured on film.

In the clip, Gerrrad knocks on the door and warmly embraces an emotional Charlie when she answers. Gerrard also lightens the mood by asking if Charlie was a red or a blue before saying he would not enter the house if she was the latter.

"We are looking for help for us to be able to take Charlie for trial treatment in Clone Germany, and also to adapt her home to have an extension to the house to keep her independence & dignity as much as we can," reads Charlie's GoFundMe page.

"It is a very tough time for us all of us, but for Charlie in particular it is vitally important that she gets the treatment she needs."
