Sport can provide moments of unbridled joy – celebrations such as the Poznań or the Bouncy show fans’ enjoyment at its best. But, could this shower of teddy bears be the best fan celebration in sport?

Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen held their 21st annual “Teddy Bear Toss” charity event on Sunday. The team asks its fans to bring teddy bears to one of its games every December and throw them onto the rink after they score.

Players lent staff a hand in a clear up which took 40 minutes.

28,815 cuddly toys were collected and will be distributed to charities and hospitals in the next week. It is a significant improvement on last year’s 19,000 toys.

The Hitmen went on to win 2-1 against the Swift Current Broncos.
