A newly-wed couple got a very unique surprise as they tied the knot last Friday. as the TV3 soccer panel made a very special appearance on their big day.

Bride Kerry McCafferty and her new partner for life Paul Byrne, a former St Patrick's Athletic player, are on their way to Mexico with fond memories of their wedding still fresh in their minds.

Paul's father Tony works in TV3 and helped organise this special treat that was introduced by the best man and it's a belter.

Presenter Tommy Martin and the TV panel which included Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, former Celtic boss Neil Lennon and ex-Ireland manager Brian Kerr remained completely deadpan as they analysed the 'Greatest Goals Of All Time'.

Top of the pile happened to be an amazingly executed volley from the groom in a game for Pat's against Sligo Rovers that helped the Saints qualify for the Setanta Sports Cup final in 2010.

"Arguably, the best goal I've ever seen. The improvisation is up there with Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo at their very best," Souness said.

"He has the balance of a gymnast. He totally bamboozles the goalkeeper," Neil Lennon added.

Brian Kerr offered his opinion, saying: "I don't know how he's not still in the Pats team, even if it was 10 years ago. I better have a chat with Liam Buckley (current St Pat's boss)."

Asked by Martin about Pat's turning down a €100m bid from Barcelona, Kerr said: "At that time Pat's were a rich club, things have changed now."

Kerry won the big prize, the chance to marry Paul.

"I'd like to say congratulations, I hope you have a fabulous day and have a truly great life together, and lots of little babies," Souness added.

"I'd echo that, I think Paul is punching well above his weight. Count your blessings every day son!," was Lennon's advice.

"Well done Paul, you've picked a winner or is it Kerry who has picked the winner. Congratulations to both of you," remarked Kerr.

The late Bill O'Herlihy and the RTE Panel did a similar favour for bride Julie-Ann Coleman in 2014 and the results were just as good.
