He may have missed out on Ireland's stunning victory over the Springboks on Saturday but now Leinster star Cian Healy is having to deal with a diminished waistline.

Healy suggested that he may be switched to the back division should his recent weight loss continue.

He posted a picture of his loosely fitting jeans on Instagram with the message: "Injury has been pretty good to me! Maybe that centre role ain't off the cards... #JeansDontFit #SkinnyChurch."

Brian O'Driscoll, the greatest centre of his generation, played down the chances of the prop making the move to his former role.

He tweeted a series of laughing smiley faces with the hashtag: "#moretoitthanaskinnywaist"

O'Driscoll has often joked that he is a fat guy stuck in a skinny guys body but Healy responded: "God knows you struggled with the skinny waist part anyway. #PaulWallace."

Healy suffered a serious hamstring injury and is unlikely to be back running until the end of December but is hopeful about being in contention for the start of the Six Nations.
