A judge has told Ireland and Munster prop David Kilcoyne to stay fast on the playing pitch but to slow down on the road.

Judge Tom O'Donnell made his comment to the 26 year-old prop after he allowed Kilcoyne's appeal against two alleged speeding offences that resulted in Kilcoyne clocking up eight penalty points and a fine of €700 in less than one hour in a west Clare village in August 2013.

Capped 12 times by Ireland, Kilcoyne came off the bench in the Ireland win against South Africa last November but has had his season interrupted after sustaining a knee injury in Munster's loss against Clermont Auvergne in December.

In his ruling wiping out the fine and penalty points, Judge O'Donnell said: In the circumstances I will have to allow you to appeal. I don't mind you being fast on the pitch, but slow down in the car."
