Graphic content: Westmeath player shares gruesome pic of head injury following sensational win over Kilkenny
Beating the Cats will probably be the definition of elation for the Westmeath U-21s, but it looks like it came at a cost.
The Midlands side knocked Kilkenny out of the U21 Hurling championship this evening with a 1-11 to 0-12 win.
Westmeath put their bodies on the line for the win at Cusack Park- and it looks like one player in particular will be tending to a sore head in the morning.
Midfielder Warren Casserly managed a crucial goal in the 34th minute, giving the boys a safe spot in the Leinster Championship semi-final.
But the game's only goal-scorer was taken off at the 47th minute after he suffered a nasty gash to his head.
He beat the Cats and he has the scars to show it - Casserly took to his Snapchat moments after the game and shared a picture of the deep cut, writing; "We got the win anyway".
Popular social media personality Rory's Stories wrote on Twitter; "Beating the Cats comes with a cost #HardyHuar #BeGrand."
Twitter rejoiced this evening with nothing but praise for the boys in maroon.

With Liam Varley outstanding at centre-back, Westmeath carried the game to the Cats and deserved to be more than a point (0-9 to 0-8) ahead at the break.
Billy Ryan equalised within 90 seconds of the resumption but Westmeath pulled clear in the 34th minute when Warren Casserly poked in a goal.
They still led by a goal when six minutes of injury-time was announced.
Substitute Andrew Gaffney pointed a '65' in the third minute of added-time and Kilkenny looked set to spoil the party when Liam Blanchfield was fouled with time almost up, but Gaffney's penalty was wide with the last puck of the match.
