European Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke was one of the very fortunate people to get a ticket for last night's fight of the century between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
ccompanied by his close friend and former Ryder Cup team mate Lee Westwood, the Irishman was unable to keep his eyelids apart for the main event.
England's Danny Willett beat Lee Westwood at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play in San Francisco meaning he was free to attend the fight last night.
Westwood later posted a picture on Twitter of himself and Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke at the fight with the Ryder Cup captain looking a little worse for wear, and Willett explained: "If all would have gone terribly wrong today, I would have been going.
"But Lee has got the ticket. Basically it was either me or Lee was going to go. It's going to be a good fight. A shame to miss it. But for me it's obviously good being here."
And the European Tour also posted a picture showing McIlroy giving the thumbs down sign as he had to settle for watching the fight in the media centre at Harding Park.
