Cristiano Ronaldo's private plane crash lands in Barcelona

While it will certainly be shelved in the category of first world problems, spare a thought for Cristiano Ronaldo because, hold your breath, his private plane was forced to make a crash landing at a Barcelona airport.

Now don’t get excited, CR7 was not on board as he was in Germany for Real Madrid’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Unsurprisingly, the Portuguese attacker opened the scoring but former Chelsea man Andre Schurrle sprung from the bench and registered a late equaliser for Dortmund.

Meanwhile, the plane, which Ronaldo purchased for a reasonable £15m, crash landed at the El Prat airport after the landing gear broke on impact and, thankfully, the pilot only sustained minor injuries, while nobody else was significantly hurt.

The aircraft is a Gulfstream G200 model and, to earn a little extra pocket money, the one-time Manchester United striker rents it out.

An unnamed source close to Ronaldo recently confirmed this to the Daily Mirror.

"The plane is normally rented by companies and it was in use by one of them. Cristiano Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the plane. The incident had no major consequences."
