Antoine Griezmann's brother trolls United fans by winding them up with series of tweets
Manchester United fans have been sent into a transfer frenzy over Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, and it’s all down to his brother.
On Thursday, 24-year-old Griezmann was linked with a surprise move to Old Trafford, following the news that Chelsea had swooped for former Barcelona forward Pedro when he looked nailed on to be joining United.
Louis van Gaal has made it no secret that he wants creativity and pace added to his attack, and the United manager was being mooted with a possible bid for the Atletico forward.
This deal is highly unlikely to happen, and it appears that the France international’s brother, Theo, has joined in on the fun.
On Thursday night, Theo appeared to troll United fans with two tweets in relation to their club. The first read “Glory glory Man United As the reds go marching on on on!” while a similar second simply said “Glory glory man united”.
A third, accompanied by a winking emoji, read: “I’m just a fan of United.” All three tweets were later deleted.
But the fun didn’t stop there. Theo went on to post a photoshopped picture of his brother in front of a giant 09, and included the hash-tags “#G9” and “Grizi9”.
The eagle-eyed United fans on the Twitter airwaves quickly noted that Griezmann does not wear the number nine shirt at the Vicente Calderon but rather the number seven shirt, and further fuel was added to the flames when other users noted the No 9 at United remains vacant following Radamel Falcao’s exit last season.
Has Griezmann’s brother just confirmed the unexpected and hinted that a Premier League move is on the cards, or is he just trolling us all by sitting back and laughing at the fallout. Our money is on the latter. (© Independent News Service)
