Miriam O'Callaghan has revealed that her interview with the RTE football panel remains her most memorable moment on the Saturday Night with Miriam show.
The show returns for a new season this weekend, and in an interview with the RTE website, says she remembers fondly the night Bill O'Herlihy, Eamon Dunphy, John Giles and Liam Brady appeared on the programme in 2008.
O'Herlihy retired as the anchor for the football panel after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and passed away in his home last month aged 76.
Giles was controversially left off the panel for last weekend's crucial qualifier against Scotland and speculation surrounds his future with the broadcaster.
The popular quartet were in high spirits on the night, with Dunphy and Giles demonstrating their singing qualities for the audience and viewers.
In light of O'Herlihy's recent passing, O'Callaghan says it was a stand-out show.
"I suppose that there's one I feel quite emotional about," she replied in an interview with the RTE website when asked about her most memorable show since it first aired in the summer of 2005.
"The late, great Bill O'Herlihy died recently and there was a classic show that's still online of himself and Eamon Dunphy, John Giles and Liam Brady. Eamon got up and sang a song, Stardust, and then John sang The Very Thought of You on the couch to me and Eamon.
"And Bill just sat there loving it. For me, that remains a very special moment. It was [at the time], but because Bill is no longer with us it's taken on an extra meaning for me right now.
"It's a beautiful show and a beautiful moment."
