He may have endured a disappointing time at Chelsea, but Fernando Torres was given a hero's welcome the Vicente Calderon ahead of his loan move to his hometown club.

The Spanish international hit 84 goals in 214 appearances for Atletico before moving to Liverpool for £26.5m in 2007 and more than 40,000 supporters were in attendance to greet the forward following his loan move from AC Milan.

Torres has struggled badly for form since he left Anfield in 2011. He managed just 20 Premier League goals in three and a half years at Stamford Bridge and managed just one goal in Serie A before he was moved on to Atletico.
