Kildare survived a late fightback to hold on and win the title

Kildare won the Leinster U21 Football Championship with a 1-12 to 0-12 win over Longford at Portlaoise.

Paddy Brophy scored the only goal of the game from a penalty two minutes into the second half.

Sean Hurley and Nialll Kelly had helped the Lilywhites to a 0-9 to 0-5 interval lead, but Longford staged a late fightback with scores from mark Hughes and Daniel Mimnagh, yet Kildare held on.
