The hugely successful JP McManus pro-am tournament which has attracted golfing stars like Tiger Woods and Hollywood A-listers like Samuel L Jackson will not be taking place in 2015.

Tax residency laws limiting JP McManus's time in Ireland are being cited as reason for the cancellation of next year's according to a report in today's Limerick Leader newspaper.

The 2010 edition of the Pro-am at Adare Manor, which was first staged in 1990, raised in excess of €41m for charity and €95m since it first took place.

Over 40 charities around the country received funds as a direct result of the event in 2010.

DMC communications confirmed to independent.ie that the event would definitely not be taking place next year.
