Journalist dresses up as a priest to visit Schumacher’s hospital room
A reporter has disguised himself as a priest in attempt to visit Michael Schumacher’s hospital room in Grenoble.
The startling news comes on the day that doctors have confirmed there has been a slight improvement in Schumacher’s condition, but still remains in a critical state.
There has been huge media interest since the Formula One driver was injured while skiing with his son and one member of the press, who has yet to be identified along with the publication, decided to dress up as priest to visit the operational room where Schumacher is lying in an induced coma.
Suspicions were quickly raised and Schumacher’s spokesperson Sabine Kehm has confirmed the incident at Grenoble Hospital.
Gérard Saillant, a leading Parisian brain surgeon and close friend of Schumacher's, seemed to allude to the incident during the press conference, when he appealed to the assembled journalists not to obstruct the clinical staff's work by cornering them for one-on-one interviews.
"In Corinna's name I would like to ask you not to pressurise us," he said, referring to Schumacher's wife. "Neither us, nor the family. You can do your best to help Schumacher win this difficult battle by leaving the doctors in peace. We are not hiding anything."
