Joey Martin hits hat-trick as Cardiff Devils cruise to victory
A Joey Martin hat-trick helped Cardiff Devils defeat the Sheffield Steelers 5-1 and go top of the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Martin was not the only hero, however, as Ben Bowns produced a 36-save performance to keep the Steelers at bay.
Martin's treble was complimented by goals from Tomas Kurka and Leigh Salters with the Steelers' response coming from Jeff Legue to make it 4-1 at the end of the middle period.
Belfast Giants were 10-8 winners over Coventry Blaze as the goals flowed in Northern Ireland in one of the most remarkable EIHL matches of all-time. Mike Radja scored a hat-trick for the visitors while Ashley Tait scored twice for the Blaze.
Edinburgh Capitals made amends for their penalty-shot defeat on Saturday night by turning the tables on Manchester Storm with a 5-4 win at Murrayfield. Ryan Hayes and Taylor Dickin both netted doubles.
Nottingham Panthers were 5-2 winners over Fife Flyers. Andy Bohmbach and Stephen Schultz were Fife's tormentors, Bohmbach netting twice to go with an assist while Schultz added three assists and a goal. They were backed up by further strikes from Juraj Kolnik and the impressive Ollie Betteridge.
It needed penalty shots to separate Dundee Stars and Braehead Clan after they were level at 3-3. Lou Dickenson scored in sudden death to win the game for the Stars.
