Donegal's Jason Quigley will begin his path to greatness in the professional boxing ranks as part of the undercard of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s fight against Erislandy Lara in the 17,000-seater MGM Grand, Las Vegas, on July 12.

The Ballybofey native, who has been tipped for massive success in the years to come, was snapped up by Oscar de la Hoya’s superstar stable last week.

“America is where it happens,” Quigley said. “LA, Las Vegas, Southern California – it’s the capital of professional boxing no matter what anybody says."

Quigley won a silver medal at the 17th AIBA World Elite Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan having won 32 consecutive fights prior to his final defeat and was tipped as a massive medal prospect for Rio before deciding to turn professional.
