Jamie Heaslip's agents to hold talks with Toulon this week
Agents for Ireland vice-captain Jamie Heaslip will hold talks with Top 14 side Toulon on Wednesday in Paris, according to reports.
Heaslip has been in advanced talks with the reigning Heineken Cup champions over the past month after contract talks with the IRFU stalled.
According to a report in the Irish Times today, Heaslip met with Toulon boss Bernard Laporte last month in Dublin and his agents will hold further negotiation this week.
The Naas man, who became the highest paid player in Ireland when he signed a a three-year deal in 2011, looks to be on the verge of following Jonathan Sexton into the French Top 14.
It is understood that Heaslip wishes to stay with the province and further talks with the IRFU are likely.
Current European champions Toulon, owned by the comic publisher Mourad Boudjellal, would be an enticing option for any player.
The multinational squad includes England's Jonny Wilkinson and South African wing Bryan Habana.
