Jacksons best in Opera Hat

Jacksonslady eventually prevailed in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Mares Chase at Naas.

Though the race lost much of its lustre when red-hot favourite Vroum Vroum Mag was a late defection through lameness, it still led to an intriguing contest, with all four remaining runners jumping the second-last in unison.

Jacksonslady and Whatwillwecallher pulled clear after that, but the latter crashed out at the last, allowing Mark Walsh to coast home on the Philip Dempsey-trained 5-2 chance.

Dempsey said: "She jumped great and the one thing she does is battle.

"She's not EBF-qualified so she has been missing out on a lot of mares' races.

"She is going to be covered this year and will make a grand broodmare."
