Former All-Ireland winning Kerry manager Jack O'Connor held a meeting with Kildare County Board Chairman John McMahon this week to discuss the Kildare job according to reports.

KFM radio made the claim this evening which has set tongues wagging in the Lilywhite county.

Glenn Ryan has ruled himself out of the running to replace Kieran McGeeney who was axed by the county board earlier this month.

Three-time All-Ireland winning manager Jack O'Connor now looks like a front-runner in the race for the vacant managerial position.

O'Connor led the Kingdom to ultimate success in 2006, 2008 and 2009 but stepped down in August of last year after Kerry's exit from the championship at the hands of Donegal.

Kevin McStay and Darragh O'Sé have also been mentioned as possible candidates for the Kildare job.
