Ireland squad for Junior World Cup announced

The Ireland Under-20 squad for the upcoming IRB Junior World Cup has been announced by coach Mike Ruddock.

Connacht's Robbie Henshaw and Ulster's Stuart Olding are notable absentees as they will form part of the Irish squad for the tour of North America.

Ruddock has called up five players who were not involved in the Under 20 Six NAtions and they are twins Edward and Adam Byrne, Thomas Farrell, Daniel Leavy and Jack O'Donoghue.

Leinster scrum-half Luke McGrath has been named as captain.

Ireland have been drawn in Pool B with Australia, Fiji and New Zealand and open their tournament against the Wallabies in eight days time on June 5.

It was confirmed today that TG4 will broadcast Ireland's pool games as well as the semi-finals and final of the tournament.

The Irish-language statement has also secured the rights to show senior side's games with the USA and Canada this month.
